To create a character, simply distribute 4 points between the 3 attributes. This will give you one attribute with 2 points, and the others with 1 point each.
"Fantastic Tales" is built on simple yet flexible rules, crafted to encourage creativity, collaboration, and most importantly, fun.
When a player character wants to perform an action, the Storyteller decides which attribute applies (Mind, Body, or Heart) and sets the difficulty number.
The player rolls a six-sided die (d6) and adds the relevant attribute's score to the roll, if the total is as high or higher than the difficulty number, the character succeeds the action.
Instead of setting a difficulty number, the Storyteller may opt to make an opposing d6 roll with no additions. This is especially useful if the player is interacting with another character.
Whether you're a first-time gamer or a seasoned adventurer, these rules are easy to grasp and exciting to apply.
Players gain levels through storytelling and achievements. The Storyteller chooses certain milestones in the story to award a level up.
Upon levelling up, a player permanently adds 1 point to any of the core attributes.
The core attributes can be used for every conceivable action. However, for those Storytellers who want to add some extra flavour to their player character, extra special ability cards can be used to boost characters in very specific ways.
They provide a bonus to an attribute roll during specific actions.
At the Storyteller's discretion, players can earn these cards through gameplay and creative roleplaying.
